I work as a specialist outdoor educator and trainer across the whole of the UK and Scandinavia. Individual remote-area guiding, outdoor education project management, and instructing survival skills fills much of my time. I am researching accidents on educational and youth organisation visits which has resulted in keeping/maintaining the UK's only Register covering 34 years. I act as a consultant and adviser to schools and industry on training and education outside the classroom. However I spend as much time working in a one-to-one situation as with groups. After 40 years of outdoor work I still have a passion for being out.

If you are interested in learning more about any of the topics shown in the courses advertised above - or you just want to enquire about a special idea that you are enthused about, and you think I can help, then do get in touch. Most one-to-one masterclasses are held during Summer, from local woodland to the north of Scotland. These do tend to change peoples' view of the natural world.
Some clients 'just' use my services for what might be called 'theory' sessions eg mapwork skills, first aid tutoring, expedition advice, ropecraft, risk-assessment lectures etc. before they go off on their own 'expedition'.
In addition to my technical specialities of mountaineering, survival skills, wilderness emergency medical care, and (at Doctoral level) risk management, my attendant and auxiliary skills and qualifications include meteorology (qualified to teach to former Board of Trade 'Ocean Yacht Masters' standard) geology: have led 'A' level geology fieldwork in southern Iceland; anthropology: former Fellow of the Royal Anthropological Institute having done post-graduate research on the Inuit.
Motivational talks, technical guidance, envisioning youth and adults are all - and an ever increasing - part my remit.
If you have a query - or you want to learn from an outdoor specialist....contact me.
